The core components of an Alkaline Battery mainly consist of a positive electrode, a negative electrode, an electrolyte, and a separator. The positive electrode material is typically manganese dioxide (MnO) due to its high redox potential and good electrochemical stability, providing a stable discharge voltage. The negative electrode material is zinc powder; zinc is an ideal choice due to its high electrochemical activity and low cost.

The electrolyte is a potassium hydroxide (KOH) solution. Its strongly alkaline environment helps improve ionic conductivity, thereby enhancing the battery's discharge performance. The separator uses porous materials, such as cellulose or polymer membranes, to isolate the positive and negative electrodes to prevent short circuits while allowing ions to pass freely. In addition, the battery may contain small amounts of additives, such as graphite or conductive agents, to optimize the conductivity of the electrodes. The synergistic effect of these components ensures the high energy density and long lifespan of alkaline batteries.
